BIO
Cassie is a native of Los Angeles, California. Her interest in the performing arts began as a teenager when she went to Inner City Youth, a Performing Arts School. From there she started break dancing. Her formal training was obtained from some of the areas most notable dance teachers such as Lady Walker, Paul Kennedy, Lula Washington, Darryl Copeland, Karen McDonald, and Diane De Franco. She then started doing music videos for Wyclef Jean, Janet Jackson, and Shiro. Cassie appeared in the film "The Naked Cage" as a featured dancer as well as "Worlds of Curls" commercial, and Disneyland's New Year's Parade. It was when she was with the notable dance company Chester Whitmore Black Ballet Jazz that she traveled to several countries such as Japan, East Germany, Iceland, Finland, Taiwan, China, and Korea. She then went to Norway and Sweden as a LA breaker, and taught and performed. Cassie also toured Japan, Thailand, Korea, and China with the popular "Ladies in Charge" all girls band.
When she came back to the States, she danced and choreographed "The Chocolate Nutcracker" with Debbie Allen in Chicago. In 2005, she debuted her choreography in the feature film "Sledge" starring Ben Stiller, Angelina Jolie, and Debbie Allen. She choreographed and debuted in the gospel play "Tell Hell I Ain't Comin" which then starred Ollie Woodson of the Temptations. Other plays include "Girl He Ain't Worth It" starring Shirley Murdock, "Chicken Shack" starring The Manhattans and Ted Mills, and "Love In All the Wrong Faces" starring Miki Howard and Dennis Edwards of the Temptations. Other stage choreography include working with Malcolm Jamal Warner in his one man show "Love & Other Social Issues" and Nephew Tommy from the Steve Harvey Morning Show in “Where’s Papa Ray’s Money?” and Nephew Tommy’s Alley Cats Dance Sketch.
Cassie also had a television dance show on Comcast On Demand called “Get Up and Dance”. She was also a featured dancer on the cable show “Svetlana”. Her most recent accomplishments include being featured in the magazine “All About Kids” as a choreographer. As well as choreographing and acting in the movie “Revival” with Chaka Khan, Kenny Lattimore, and Mali Music to name a few. She just finished choreographing the play “Recorded in Hollywood” where she received many write ups in the LA Times, www.totaltheater.com, www.thetvolution.com, www.hollywoodprogressive.com and many more.
Cassie also won the 2010 NAACP Theatre Award for Best Choreographer. In 2015, she won Stage Scene LA Award for Best Choreographer for “Recorded in Hollywood”. She was also nominated for a 2016 Scenic Award for her work in “Recorded in Hollywood”. She is also known for giving back to her community by working with the Young Scholar’s Dance Camp at Southwest College where she taught youth for 21 years. Currently, she is working at Wendy Raquel Robinson's children’s conservatory Amazing Grace as a choreographer and dance instructor. She also works at Celerity Global as a The National Director of Performing Arts where is over the Performing Arts program for 18 charter schools in Los Angeles and Louisiana.
